Writer Magazine

Founded in 1887, The Writer has a long tradition of helping writers succeed in their chosen field by providing lively, informative articles about the art, craft and business of writing and the writing life. Now, we are pleased to partner with Gotham Writers' Workshop, New York's leading creative writing school, to bring professional writing workshops to you over the Internet.

Since its beginning, The Writer has featured advice from prominent authors of the day. We've featured such writers as Sue Miller, Elmore Leonard, John Updike, Gail Godwin, Madeleine L'Engle, Elizabeth Berg, Joyce Carol Oates, Mary Higgins Clark, Alan Furst and many more. Each month we bring our readers the information they need to get started, improve their craft, stay inspired and achieve their writing dreams in today's publishing world.

We are offering online workshops to help you hone and practice your skills with an expert instructor and fellow writers from around the country. The Writer Writing Center offers 10-week interactive workshops that provide you with the structure and guidance you need to bring your work to the next level.
